Year of the Earth Boar

Year of the Earth Boar

Destiny, and the Feng Shui perspective on luck as well as the Taoist philosophy on nature as it relates to one’s Destiny, have been part of my 40+ years of study in philosophy, religions, psychology and metaphysics. With a new year approaching, the questions that have driven my passion and are the reason I am the Classical Feng Shui expert that I am today, resurface:

What are the forces that create and influence life for that all-important destiny? Is destiny predetermined? What about free will?

Free will is certainly on everyone’s minds in the current political climate. Classical Feng Shui Master and founder of the Master Academy of Chinese Metaphysics, Joey Yap, offers insight into the coming year of the Earth Boar, Ji Hai (己亥), by stating that the first half of 2019 will see slow development in the political and economic arenas. Towards the latter half of the year however, it is anticipated that previous investments in time and resources will start to manifest more tangible results.

It’s important to keep in mind that your BaZi chart accounts for 33% of your destiny.

The 2019 Year of the Earth Boar includes earth, water and wood—and this combination, with the addition of time, will affect each person differently. Therefore, when creating a “big picture” for the year ahead, incorporating all aspects of the Year of the Earth Boar on your specific BaZi chart will give you a better understanding of what to expect. In my book, Feng Shui: Do You See What I See?, I explain part of the Taoist philosophy that resonates most with me and gives grounded reasoning for the excitement that surrounds new year preparations:

“The ancient Taoists saw themselves as a product of nature’s forces. They did not see themselves as separate from nature, but as interconnected and part of the entire universe. They believed in the oneness of all things. Feng Shui is viewed as a method to increase your “luck.” Luck is not seen, as a random event. Luck and chance are completely different. Luck is personal, it can be cultivated.”

If we can cultivate our own luck, it follows that we need to be prepared. How to Prepare for the Lunar New Year is a short guide I wrote for ways you can prepare yourself and your environment for the upcoming Year of the Earth Boar. It will be a challenging one for the majority; expect to see empires rise and new ‘kings of the hill’ established for they made preparations during unstable times and will reap the rewards in 2019. This holds true for all: preparedness will be the advantage for you, too.

If you understand what the effects of the Earth Boar on your BaZi chart mean, this can help you leverage or even harness the energy of nature to work in harmony, instead of against the tides. You will understand when to make a move—and when not to. You know the old adage; “knowledge is power”, and in this case, you can use it to perpetrate the most excellent life you can, according to your goals, with the least amount of effort because you’re working hard when you should, and only making changes when it’s optimal.
