My Trip to China: Middle Kingdom Magic

According to my Chinese astrology, September is the best month for me to spend travelling. Every year, I look forward to working on my professional development by attend courses and workshops worldwide.  I love to be able to hone my skills while seeing new places, meeting new people, and reconnecting with Feng Shui professionals I know every year. And best of all, share my updated skills with, you,  my clients!
I’ve just returned from one of these trips and it was an incredibly unique opportunity. Joey Yap, the founder of the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics, a global organization devoted to the teaching of Feng Shui, organized a trip that was offered only to his advanced students, and I was honoured to be included. We spent seven days travelling around the province of Jiangxi, located in Southeast China, touring some of the most sacred Zen Buddhist and Taoist temples.
These meridian spots are open to the public, but Joey Yap spent a great deal of time preparing the itinerary and scouting the sites prior to our arrival and we spent seven days visiting up to three locations of specific forms and ancient sites a day. Up at sunrise and on the road sightseeing for twelve hours at a time, then arriving at our next hotel for dinner, comparing notes and personal contemplation. It was wonderful to hear how everyone was moved, yet often in completely different ways.
On this trip I learned to see and feel the energy of Mountain Dragons and Dragon Meridian Spots, something that could take an entire lifetime when the ancient texts were written.
I also experienced an immense spiritual and physical body rush via Dragon Veins featured in the landscape. (*More to come on these specific Feng Shui topics in upcoming blog posts.) I ventured to the mountains and temples where Taoism (a tradition of Chinese origin that emphasizes living in harmony) and Zen Buddhism (a school that was developed in the 6th Century) began. It is truly a humbling experience to stand where new ways of thinking were created.
From the 1,474 meter Lushan Mountain visionary feast, to the immortal Mount Sanqing Shan where the ancient 1600 year old temple is located and the glorious Zhengzhou Shaolin Monastery; I saw hundreds of forms and learned how to read the ‘Qi’ or ‘Life Force.’ There is a famous saying that for a formation to be good it depends on the form it takes. Feng Shui, at its core, is about reading the energy of the environment and tapping into the Qi with specific techniques and formulas for specific results.
I am so excited to now be back in Vancouver and apply this new knowledge to help the lives of my clients and students. The privilege of studying Ancient Feng Shui teachings under Joey Yap fills me with true appreciation and wisdom.
IS THAT A FACT? Chinese typically don’t call their country China. They call their country ‘Zhong guo.’ This literally means ‘Middle Kingdom.’
