Month of the Water Dog – October 2023
| Hello and welcome, my friends. Tomorrow, on October 8th, we transition into the month of the Water Dog in the year of the Water Rabbit. This transition marks a significant shift, offering us the choice between Innovation and Destruction and between Reacting and Embracing. The Dog is one of the 4 Graveyard animals in Chinese Astrology, along with the Dragon, Goat and Ox. Each of these animals (Earthly Branches in one’s natal chart) represent the last month of a season, where the predominant Qi of that season (Water, Wood, Fire and Metal) goes into hibernation signifying change and transformation. This month, the Metal Qi is put to bed. |
| This is the chart of the Metal Dog month and the theme is very much related to your personal karma. React or Create; Destruction or Innovation. Astrologically, we are being asked to consider what needs to end / transform in our lives. Depending on what metal is to you, this month could mean different kinds of endings. When we use the energy strategically, this could mean selling an asset and locking away the profits, changing jobs or career path, choosing to change a relationship, cleaning up a health issue, making a decision to slow down or perhaps letting go of a belief that no longer serves us. Aside from the metal and strong water Qi present in the chart this month, we have two eclipses, further intensifying these energies. The new moon eclipse on Oct 14th and the full moon eclipse on Oct 28 indicating endings and new beginnings. The full moon eclipse on the 28th in particular, is an important portal that points to the end of some type of lesson that began in 2021. Eclipses are best viewed as portals to higher states of consciousness. They propel us forward on our paths of consciousness to where we need to be. They are powerful moments where we are guided by cosmic flow (our higher self). Expect fated events that will push you forward to your higher purpose. The hexagrams for the month are called Peel and Gathering. The overall prediction for the collective – things are changing and the best strategy is to unite with people whom you can help or who can help you. If you are prepared, this can be a great month for joint ventures and even take overs. The key is to choose consciously.
