Fire Season Through the Lens of the I Ching
Dear students, clients and friends,
As we move deeper into Fire season within a Fire Horse year, the energy is no longer building — it is transforming.
Fire does not wait.
It changes the structure of everything it touches.
This is the nature of alchemy.
Fire refines, distorts, purifies, or burns through what is no longer aligned—externally and within us.
What is being transformed now is not just circumstance.
It is perception.
During Fire season, unresolved things tend to surface. What has been hidden, avoided, suppressed, or unresolved tends to become more visible and amplified. These old patterns may appear through relationships, emotional reactions, burnout, conflict, overextension, or a growing awareness that something in your life no longer feels aligned.
This is where insight begins.

A Three Phase Process
The I Ching offers a map for this season through three hexagrams:
• 43 – Elimination (Snake Month)
• 1 – The Creative (Horse Month)
• 48 – The Well (Goat Month)
This is the movement of transformation.
Snake Month – Elimination
Transformation begins with removal.
Something is seen clearly enough that it can no longer remain.
Fire burns through what is misaligned—
patterns, attachments, or ways of thinking that have outlived their purpose.
You may notice:
• A sudden realization
• A loss of tolerance
• A clear knowing that something must shift
This is not reaction.
It is conscious elimination.
What are you no longer willing to carry?
Because what is removed now creates space for what follows.
Horse Month – The Creative
Once something is cleared, energy returns.
This is forward movement—momentum, visibility, opportunity.
But Fire as alchemy works both ways. It can refine—or distort.
Fire brings illumination, but illumination alone is not wisdom.
What becomes visible still requires discernment.
Movement without insight leads to reaction.
Movement with insight leads to aligned creation.
This is where leadership matters — not just in action, but in awareness.
Goat Month – The Well
After intensity, we return to what sustains.
The Well represents source—
what supports life over time.
It is not built in moments of urgency,
but through consistent care and aligned participation.
The Well asks:
• What are you contributing to?
• What are you drawing from?
• Is it being maintained with integrity?
It also speaks to people.
Who you surround yourself with matters.
The quality of your “Well” reflects the quality of those involved. This reminds me of the quote ‘the top five people you hang out with reflect your life.’
The Pattern
This season moves through:
• Elimination → removing what is no longer aligned
• Creation → moving forward with intention
• Source → returning to what sustains
Fire amplifies and accelerates. It brings change—whether conscious or not.
Closing
Fire season is not here to overwhelm. It is here to transform.
Seasons move whether we participate consciously or unconsciously.
The question is not whether change is happening. It is:
Are you participating in that transformation consciously—or being carried by it?
With you in this journey called life…
