The Deeper Reason I Teach BaZi

After more than three decades of study and practice, I am often asked why I continue to teach BaZi (Chinese Astrology).

The answer is simple. Because this knowledge changes how we see human beings and interact with each other.   When we understand how energy works and connects,  we get insight and tools to empower our lives.

BaZi is not prediction. It is structure.

It is the study of how Heaven, Earth, and human constitution intersect at the moment of birth — and how that structure unfolds over time.

When you learn to read a chart properly, you are not memorizing animals or counting elements. You are studying interaction.

  • The relationship between stems and branches
  • The dynamics of the Ten Gods
  • The balance and imbalance of the Five Elements
  • The movement of Luck Cycles
  • The phases of Qi across time

This is architecture.

And within that architecture lives the human story.

A chart reveals natural strengths — where someone moves with ease.
It reveals blind spots — where stress accumulates.
It reveals patterns in relationship.
It reveals how wealth is approached or resisted.
It reveals how career cycles unfold.
It reveals constitutional tendencies that may impact health.

But beyond structure, it reveals something even more important.

It reveals emotional constitution.

It shows how a person responds under pressure.
Where they defend.
Where they attach.
Where they overextend.
Where they withdraw.

Structure and psyche are not separate.

Elemental imbalance has emotional expression.
Timing cycles activate psychological themes.
Ten Gods dynamics reflect relational patterns.

When this is understood, interpretation becomes nuanced.

A therapist listens differently.
A practitioner diagnoses differently.
A leader makes decisions differently.
A parent guides differently.

And the individual themselves begins to act differently.

It shows what you were born with — and how timing will invite certain lessons forward. It shows when effort is supported and when restraint is wiser than force. It shows where growth requires discipline — and where it requires patience.

My mission is to steward this classical knowledge with integrity and allow it to ripple outward to influence change.

Into healing practices.
Into coaching rooms.
Into leadership spaces.
Into families.

When we understand this energetic structure, we stop personalizing every struggle.
We stop shaming difference.
We stop forcing outcomes against timing.

We begin working with energy.

Everything is energy.

Our gifts are energy.
Our fears are energy.
Our ambition is energy.
Our resistance is energy.

BaZi gives language to that energy.

But it also demands discernment.

This is why I teach the class over 9 weeks. Carefully. Structurally.

BaZi Mastery is not information consumption.

It is training in how to interpret responsibly.

To see the whole chart.
To understand interaction rather than isolate symbols.
To read timing with nuance.
To hold someone’s structure with respect.

When practitioners carry this knowledge forward with depth and integrity, the ripple effect is real.

Clarity replaces confusion.
Compassion replaces judgment.
Strategy replaces impulsivity.

And decisions become conscious.

That is why I continue to teach.

Not for prediction but rather for understanding.
