All About Me: The Whistler Women’s Retreat

Living our best lives starts with having good energy. How do you go about achieving that, you may ask? In Feng Shui, there is a really important saying: 70% of the energy inside any building is determined by location. It’s not so hard to imagine. Say we take three identical homes and place them in different locations. We put one up high in the mountains, one near the ocean, and one on a busy intersection of a downtown street. The obvious factors alone—traffic congestion, the presence or absence of nature—would influence the state of these three homes. Good Feng Shui goes beyond these surface level observations, however.

What does good Feng Shui look like?

Common belief is good Feng Shui is the harmony or “good feeling” in a space. But that’s not quite all of it. It is important to note that it’s not the decor, colour, knick knacks or furniture that determines the Feng Shui—it is the physical location of those things and the building itself. It’s also the direction the building faces, the building layout, and use of space.

Once those have been achieved, it’s time to get specific.

Feng Shui is goal specific.

An important question to ask is: does the space support people, relationships, health, financial opportunities, children, etc.? As a Feng Shui Master, I can provide insight into a building and its surrounding location through observation and compass measurements to answer that all-important question. Using classical Feng Shui methods, I am able to understand and explain what is going on for the occupants, along with their capacity for growth depending on their goals.

Every person has different needs and requirements to grow. Just like different plants need different optimum soil and sunshine levels to produce good yields, so do we. The ancient Chinese scholars discovered this, studied it, and taught it. For centuries, a Feng Shui master would pass on the secrets orally to only a handful of students. It’s only in the last 20 years that these Classical Feng Shui teachings have become more available to Western students.

Curious how they can help you divine the best energy out of your space?
